Using the HVX for HDR photography

I've been doing some experiments with HDR videography, and decided to see what I could accomplish by filming a scene and then just using all the images captured to create one big HDR photograph.

I just set up the shot, hit record and started at 1/64ND and rolled the control til the iris was completely open, switched to 1/8 and rolled til closed, then took away the ND and rolled until open...then cut.

I took the over 400 images and rolled them into the following HDR image:

Ahhh, but what is and isn't practical in art?

Definitely fun though, as the scenery is already quite nice in that spot, but makes for very interesting HDR.

I've done some web portrait photos for a couple of my friends kids and they love it......definitely fun.

with the blur/blooming on the fine edges the whole thing kinda has a thomas kinkaid kinda vibe... my mom would love it ; )

that is a pretty interesting effect.
i have recently been messing around with clips and pulling out frame grabs. i have personally found that i get the highest quality stills by exporting an image sequence of tiff's out of quicktime pro. i'd be interested to hear how you could squeeze a higher quality image out . . .

I've found a few steps to make sure you have the highest quality images to work with, but of course this is for Premiere. Go to file->export->movie, and click on settings. In the file type switch to TIFF. Now in the left pane switch to video, and make sure compressor is set to none, color depth is Millions + of colors(don't be fooled, as the settings look very alike....one is "Millions of colors" and the other is "Millions + of colors"), and uncheck recompress.....now switch to Keyframe and Rendering and set bitdepth to Maximum....that's it, and you should have the best output.....also in my project settings I always change Video Rendering settings to Maximum bit depth and I change the preview file format to uncompressed 10-bit (4:2:2 YUV)...this may be uneccesary, but oh well.
