using stock lens for 35mm relay

I am new to using ENG style cameras so bare with me.

Is there a way to use the 300's lens as a relay lens to hook up to a 35mm adapter like the SGblade? I realize a true relay lens "might" be better but I am looking for a cheaper alternative to get my feet wet using a 35mm adapter without buying the farm.

Thanks

I've tested a Letus Ultimate with an HPX300/stock Fujinon lens. I believe I had to use the achromat and go into macro with the ENG lens. It makes for a large setup and the lenses must be supported. CAC was helpful with the setup.

Not ideal, but doable with the Letus. Not sure about the SG Blade.

Thanks for the info.

What focal length should I set the lens to? Something like a normal lens 50mm on a 35mm DSLR?

I am looking at the JAG35Pro and as far as I can tell all I would need to do is use a 72mm to 82mm setdown ring to connect the lens and adapter. Is this usually how adapter and relay lens connect? Or is there another tube that is needed?

You will be much tighter on the ENG lens, you can choose between full frame 35mm and Academy wth a Letus Ultimate, don't know about others. Letus Ultimate has threads for 82mm, so I think it would mount to the Fuji stock ENG lens directly, not sure about others. No other spacers or tubes needed, just a stepdown ring potentially.

Optically, you would be better off using a camera like an HPX170 or EX1 with a DOF adapter vs. a full size ENG camera with ENG lens, ditto size wise. Try before you buy--it may not work, I have no experience with the Jag adapters or achromats.

Watch for vignetting and edge to edge focus, usa a resolution chart and shoot wide open on taking lens and ENG lens.
