Using SDXC Cards with AF100 and the exFAT File System

Hello everyone. I wanted to ask if anyone has the answer to this question. My understanding with the AF100 (And the AF100A), you can use SDXC cards and the camera formats them as exFAT. Does this mean that the camera will no longer break up the files since there is no more a 4GB limit?

I am very curious to find out if anyone tried this. Record for an hour or so and then take the card and put it inthe computer and see if you see lots of MTS files or just one.

Let me know.
Thanks :)

I have recorded files well over 4 gigs...and it's just what you'd expect ...one file per shot.
However, if your computer is older the built in card reader may not like the big fat formatting...my laptop did not but my slightly newer desktop read it with no problem ?

Cheers,

Tye

Which version of the camera do you have? the AF100? or AF100A? I have the 100 and it split the files into 4GB chunks using SDXC and exFAT. Is there a setting?

I don't believe it matters, both versions have the same file handling protocols. What editing software are you using and how do you import the footage.

Using Premiere Pro, but the editing software is not the issue. I got a call from Panny and they said in fact the camera will break up the files to 4GB even if you use SDXC (which is unfortunate) since the file system itself supports large file sizes. It's not a total dealbreaker for me personally since Premiere will read the metadata and just see one big "clip"; but when I need to give to clients, separate files could be an issue. Anybody use some kind of a MTS joiner program?
Thanks =)
