Using Redrick gear ring C for HVX focus ring

I got a redrock follow focus for my Letus/Nikon set up, and ordered 3 gear rings for my Nikon lenses. I chose A, B, and C.

It turns out C is to big for any of them, so I thought it might work for the HVX's focus ring. Unfortunately, it's too small. However, it will fit over the ring nice and snug. It's just that the screw won't reach far enough to hold it together.

I know i shouod get gear ring D, but I don't want to spend another $63. Is it a bad idea to just use the gear ring C? Will stretching it slightly damage it?
 
Well, there's always the chance you might either break it if you stretch it too much, or worse, damage the gears of your FF during a critical shoot. Were I you, I'd rather pay 63 bucks and be done with that problem instead of trying anything that might make things worse and end up costing more.

It's always better to be safe than sorry! :smile:
