using PQ, MQ, & AMQ

Do you guys suggest using only one of these types of tapes or is it cool to use a mix of them in a DVX cam? I have used mostly MQ's, but it's harder and harder for me to find them since Panansonic doesn't make them anymore. I've also used 1 AMQ and 1 PQ and haven't had any problems yet but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

I'm using PQ tapes. So far, so good.

I inquired about the difference between PQ and AMQ at a Panasonic authorized tape supplier (TapeWorks, here in Toronto), and they said that yes, in factory tests the AMQs have fewer dropouts. However, many professionals buy PQ tapes from them all the time and have never had a problem.

I got the impression that it wasn't worth the extra money.

Hope that helps.

i dont know if it's just me but it seems that more of it is in marketing then in actual results .. people tend to have way too much superstition riding on tape models/brands.. i do understand that a dropout could be worth a lot of money, but on the other hand, it mostly happens when you re-use the tape .. a lot ... and from what i see, most professionals dont really re-use ... i've used the consumer (AJ?? or something with a J) panasonic tapes just as well and have reused them once or twice without any dropouts so just see how much the "insurance" is worth to you .. especially if you reuse
