using my GH13 on a crane

I love my GH13. The fact that there is no live video out doesn't affect me too much except when I want to do a crane shot. I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a small webcam next to a GH13 on the end of the crane and use a laptop to roughly frame the shot? One could experiment to see exactly how far to compensate for the offset. Has any one tried this and if so are there any problems?

Last shoot I worked on that used a crane, our rental was $20,000 a day. Unless you just have a DIY crane, renting a very ghetto crane, or are well connected then a crane isn't going to be cheap. Why not use a different camera? A camera rental won't tack on that much vs the crane costs.

I'd rather point the webcam at the LCD so that I could see exactly what it was framing. You could even cover the space between them with something to block the light out to improve the image.

Thanks for the quick replies. Andor, I should have said a jib. and yes I have a dyi jib that works very well for my videos and short films, with the exception i mentioned of framing . Andrew, thanks for solving my problem. Brilliant! why didn't
i think of that.
