Using manuel settings while shooting

Hello everyone. I have been a DVX user since weekend and trying to figure out what this gorgeous machine could do. My question will be about on the manuel setting of the focus. For my short film which I will be shooting in a couple of months, I am going to use the camcorder at hand for a scene in which characters will argue. In that scene, since the camcorder will move all the time walking after/with the characters, do I have to set the focus ring every time I walk with the camera? Is this the way for shooting this kind of scenes? or Should I use auto-focus in order to get rid of this"extra-attention"?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Depending on your focal length and iris you won't have to focus at all, or a lot (which is hard to do while walking with the DVX100). So, if the iris is like 5.6 or more and you're totally in wide-angle then it doesn't matter if you're two or three meters away from your subjects. If the iris is 1.7 and you'd like to zoom in here and there then you'd have to focus a lot.
With a shoulder mount camcorder it's easy to focus while moving because a) you have a b/w crt display with edge peaking and b) the focus ring has fixed start and end points and the point where it says "2m" will always focus on 2 meters away.
With the DVX the focus is a lot harder to see on the display and the focus ring reacts less well-defined (it's pretty good, but not the real thing)

I don't know, portuguese (Manuel) settings end up being a bit confusing at times ... It has to go with the way they think... :)
