Using Lowel kit in 220-240 volt sockets overseas.

I have the Lowel DV1 kit with a Tota, Omni, and Pro light. Do I just need prong adapters? I heard they work with 220 volts...is this just the tota or all lowel lights?

Also, can I use one prong adapter and then a power strip? That way I don't have to get 3 or more prong adapters for each light?

If you've ever shot/filmed in the Philippines please PM me or reply, that's where I'm going.

Thanks in advance...this has to be the most helpful respectful forum I've been to in a long time.

not wattage .. voltage.

US power is 110v

Voltage is basically the "pressure" of the electricity in the system.

If you feed 220v into a 110v bulb, you get a really bright light for a fraction of a second, as the bulb burns out.

What if I use one of those 220 to 110 voltage power conversion boxes? Will I be ok then?

That will work as long as you can find one that can handle the power (measured in watts)
It will probabaly be cheaper to buy bulbs than a converter powerfull enough for video lights.

I wouldn't depend upon the transformer route. You'd need to make sure its the right size and that depends upon your ability to rate the wattage involved of all the fixtures going into the transformer and also the larger the transformer, usually the bigger/bulkier it will be. I'd just buy the 220v bulbs and change them out for the trip.
