GH5 Using larger size 82mm close-up (diopter) adaptors & stepup rings for my lenses?

I use step up rings for my 82mm ND filters but wondering if I can do the-same without unwanted distortion or artefacts using close up filters(diopter) +2 lens adaptors to help with close focusing on smaller diameter lenses like 46mm, 52mm, 58mm, 67mm and 77mm lenses.

Is it better to get the exact lens filter size for diopter lens adaptors?
