Using InstantHD to sharpen non-HD projects

Hey guys,

Just wondering if InstantHD is a good solution for sharpening standard DV Widescreen projects (720x480 in letterbox mode). I know a lot of InstantHD's magic is in the upscaling... so I don't know if it would be appropriate for this. The end goal for my project is web distribution at 480x270. I will offer multiple video formats at different bitrates. Thanks!

Not sure about InstantHD, but have you tried downscaling your video as you intend to deliver it? Downscaling can have a natural sharpening effect to it.

By downscaling do you mean a process beyond decreasing the size of the video output? If so, I haven't. Can you point me to any resources? Thanks!

I did some tests and could see no apparent effect of applying it to the same sized project. (I had hopes for it in that regard also)
