Using HVX200 tomorrow, can anyone recommend settings?

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow I'm shooting a music video with a HVX (just something for fun with my buddies) and I'm wondering what settings I should use. I'll be shooting outside in either overcast weather or the rain, inside a car and inside a house with lights from a hardware store. I want to reduce noise/gain as much as possible. I know its pretty late in the game for asking advice as we shoot tomorrow but any advice would be appreciated. If you need anymore information please ask.

Thanks,
Rob.

What type of video are you trying to achieve? What kind of music?
Hard edgy rock? Kooky pop song? Experimental electro?

It all depends on the look you want to try and get; the mood you want to set visually to match the 'audial' portion of it.

Like, I'd say if you're shooting outside while overcast I'd bring up the Chroma Level a bit to bring up the colors a touch, since when overcast everything gets muddied a bit; BUT that might fit what you're trying to do.

You tell me...

Also, due to the HVX's lack of an immense amount of latitude, you'd be doing yourself a huge favor to have both a pola and a grad filter (.9 perhaps) on if you're seeing the sky. This will help your sky not blow out.

If you like colors to be saturated, then go with Scene File 6 outside, or go with another scene file and increase the Chroma level in the menu. For increased contrast, bump up your Master Ped. (All changes have other consequences as well.)

If you want to reduce noise and gain, you'll want everything well-lit.
