Using HMC40 for DVD - Which Format is Best

Will be shooting a children's play this weekend using my HMC40 and plan to put it on DVD for the parents. I will be using Sony Vegas 9.0 for editing. Which recording format would give the best results - 1080/60i, 1080/30p (over 60i), 720/60p or 720/30p (over 60p) and 720/24p (native)?

Thanks in advance.

Few players can handle 30p properly. Support for 24p is much broader.

So, it is either 24p for "film look" or 60i/60p for "live look". Out of 60i and 60p I suggest 60p because progressive is easier to work with, and because it has higher vertical resolution (720 lines vs. 540 lines).

My own thinking is that you are coming from such a high high resolution master, that the resolution difference between 1080p and 720p may not matter or be to small to notice.

I'd go with 720/60p.

All of my 720p footage dropped down to 480i very nicely and it looked great.
