Using HMC151 with DVX100b

I've been thinking about buying a couple of 151's (or Sony NXCam's) to replace my two DVX100's. I film mainly weddings and adverts for the web (professionally). I'm now toying with the idea of buying just one 151 for the time being, down converting the footage to SD, and using it with my two DVX100B's in squeeze mode (16:9). Is there anyone out there in Panasonicland who has tried mixing both cameras footage? Any problems? I'm thinking of shooting in 720p 50fps and combining it with my usual 25p from the DVX's.

thanks

I didn't have any problems actually shooting/editing the two cameras together, but there was an obvious quality difference in terms of detail even when down converting. It really sold me on going all HD.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to be using the 151 for the main camera throughout the day, but using the DVX's as 'a' and 'b' cams during the ceremony and speeches which generally will be longer shots anyway, hopefully not making the difference too noticable. It will only be a short term stuation anyway. I just know that if i bought the two 151's it wouldn't be long before Panasonic annnounce the 151b. Plus we have our firstborn on the way so can't justify the 6k+ outlay at the moment!

There will be a huge difference I have tried it myself and its noticable to the Max. The HMC is way to clean. The editing looks like a game of Duck, Duck, Goose. I do believe the HMC 40 looks good with the 150 but The DVX and 150 frustrated me on several documentaries. I don't know if you've considered two 40's?

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, i've considered it but I really wanted to buy just one camera for the time being. Ideally I wanted to gradually step into the AVCHD workflow rather than find myself doing the first shoot with the new cameras then coming to edit it and realising that i need to spend a whole load of extra money, and time, on pc upgrades etc. I have two bog standard quad-core pc's and use Vegas.

I'm already pretty busy with work and it's all about to get loads busier in the house so I wan't a hassle free, and inexspensive, camera upgrade option.

Shame about the difference in quality. Do you think that as long as the shots from the different cameras were very diffferent from each other, for example the DVX getting the long shot, and the 151 getting the close ups, it would hide the difference?
