Hi,
I've been using my GH13 as a documentary B camera for broadcast and it's great. Mainly I work in PAL land. By now I'm working on a US project so we're delivering 60i so I'm having to learn all about this pulldown stuff.
Logically, I thought the GH1 footage should work well, since it's already been packaged as 60i. Sure enough, the FCP happily accepts the footage in a 60i timeline showing its framerate as 29.97
However, looking closely at it, the motion isn't quite right. Instead of doing 3:2 pulldown by repeating fields, it repeats every 5th frame. This makes motion look much more juddery than it should do.
I've read lots of posts about how to do reverse telecine to remove the pulldown and get a native 24p file - but presumably that would be pointless for me since I'd have to add pulldown back in to get a 60i file.
So is this the fault of FCP and the way it handles footage with pulldown?
Or is it something to do with the way the camera packages the 24p?
Any help much appreciated.
