Using external Monitor

I bought a extrnal 7" lcd monitor kit to use with my crane. The one I recieved uses the componet outputs. When I plug them in..I get nothing. After flipping through Barry handbook..I think those ports a/v about the xlr ports are not for external monitor connections. So id my only option a HDMI monitor?

No, the RCA outputs above the XLR ports definitely work for output, I've done it plenty of times. There are even menu options to choose how to deal with the aspect ration conversion (stretch, crop, letterbox). Check the connections, test the monitor with another source, test the camera with another monitor?
 
yes those rca are functional and use those many times for live projection. also with those component out.
 
Hmmmm..ok..il keep worken on it! Is there anything you have to do to enable output..or should it do automagicly..lol
