Using EX1's footage in Vegas

Hey guys,

I have a job this weekend with another camera Op who is also the editor, we are both shooting on EX's. I offload my clips to FCP6 but he is editing on Vegas.

If i capture my clips from the camera straight into FCP via Logo and Transfer and create a capture scratch on an external drive, will he be able to work with those clips in Vegas...?

Might be a silly question but i have had a very simple workflow of just dumping right into FCP since i got my EX1 and want to make sure that he will be able to work the the clips.

He suggested using clip browser but i am having trouble with it i think.... Basically i cant view the QT files within the 'BPVA -> CLPR' folders and also i am not sure how to get those into FCP...? The clips are there but i don't want to rely on him being able to use them when i cant review them...?
Where am i going wrong in that aspect..?
As i mentioned, i have never using a method of importing EX footage other than via log and transfer so clip browser is new to me!

Many thanks for any help

Tom

Thanks a lot for that!

If he doesn't have 9, what could be a way to give him usable footage, pro-res conversion... etc?

Just make copies of the BPAV folder(s) and give those to him. He can use Clipbrowser to ingest the files without any problem at all.

This is a perfect example of why it's important to keep the BPAV folders intact.

All I do is copy the memory card to my hard drve and drag and drop the MP4 files from Windows Explorer straight into the Vegas timeline. Couldn't be any simpler. If you are uncomfortable with this approach, you can use the Device Explorer to import footage from your memory card / camera to your hard drive. Vegas adds all the files to the Project Media bin as well, so you can choose your clips from there. I have never used Clipbrowser. Also, performance is superb, and even stone age era laptops can natively edit full HD XDCAM footage.
