Using DX and G Nikon lenses with a Letus35 adapter

Hi everyone,

My mother, who is a professional photographer, gave me some excellent Nikon lenses to use with my new Letus Extreme adapter, which is hooked up with my Sony EX1 video camera. Two of them, the 50mm and an older 70-200mm, have irises that are only operated by a camera. (There are no manual F-stop controls.)

Since I'm not using a Nikon, such as the D7000, I have no control over the F-stop. But the iris is clearly controlled by a manual spring that could easily be wired open––if only I had the right contraption to control the thing!

Ideally, I'd be able to control my F-stop, like this £195 solution:

...but frankly, I don't want to spend the money. I'd be happy just to wire the lenses permanently open at their widest aperture––or close to it, in the "sweet spot" at wide +2 f stops. Does anyone have a good idea? I tried pulling the iris permanently open with dental floss––too slippery... Maybe I could just use a bit of metal wire? Gaffer's tape?

Help!
