Using A, B, C, etc settings in PTool_Mac

As usual when it comes to hacks PC's rule, but I have a Mac so am using the available PTool_Mac which is the latest version of PTool wined for OSX. I know other Mac users have had success with PTool but I seem to have hit a wall.

It seemed to be working ok but when I click the A B C D etc settings at the bottom nothing happens. Or nothing appears to happen. Do these settings automatically tick boxes etc ( doesn't work in PTool_Mac) or do you have to tick boxes and the settings are preset to which letter you chose.

Also I ran across this thread that appeals to me.

I have successfully added the .ini file by having it in the same folder. It turns the A of the ABCD settings green, which leads me to think I am missing some ini files for the ABCD presets.

I realise everyone is going for max quality but I'd like a reduced quality but with a little more reliability and playback.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a dedicated Mac thread as it must have it's own foibles and hurdles to overcome that are in addition to all you have to do with the PC version.

PS I have also opened in VMware Fusion and things were a little better. Still no ABCD settings though.

It depends on ini file name. If it is "seta.ini", then settings are stored in position "A", if the file is "setb.ini", it is stored in position "B", etc.

For example, if you have "setj.ini", then you have to click "J" in order to load the settings. However, check if all required patches are included (checked).

Explained! This is kind of symptomatic of the whole PTool problem for me. A lot of the details just get lost in the fog of info that is emanating from this forum. I don't think I've seen anything that states you have to install these settings. I just assumed they would be there.

My problem I guess. Thanks for the explanation.
