New user to the DVX100B.

I have read many things and looked in this forum for the answer (sorry of it has been posted already).

What I am trying to do is set my own presets to the F1-F6 dial (rear of camera). or anywhere else. There are hints this can be done, but I am unable to locate information anywhere.

This dial is called the scene file dial. It can have up to 6 user stored settings. All the custom settings you can select for each one will be found in the menu>scene file. Customize each part of that menu and then you can rename it and then save it. As you change the dial, each one can be completely different, so have the dial on the scene file you want to modify.

It takes a little bit to learn what each function does, so i'll try to give you a synopsis:

Detail Level: The overall detail in your picture

V Detail Level: Similar effect but on a lower scale

Detail Coring: Not much of an effect at all

Chroma Level: The overall richness of the colors (chroma level at -7 will not produce B+w!)

Chroma Phase: The higher it goes, the colors will be pushed to the magenta side of the spectrum, the lower, the colors will be pushed to the green side of the spectrum

Color Temperature: Same effect, except the higher it goes, the colors will be pushed to the blue side of the spectrum, the lower, the colors will be pushed to the red side of the spectrum

Master Pedestal: How the camera controls the brightness and how it differentiates luminocities

A. Iris Level: No effect, only when in auto iris mode

Gamma: Similar to Master Ped, but gamma also takes into account contrast

Knee: ???

Matrix: Similar to gamma?

Skin Tone Detail: Will slightly blur your image giving you less resolution but will make skin look cleaner, usually good for interviews

V Detail Frequency: When viewing on an interlaced monitor, you will notice how small lines close together will do a weird buzzing motion when the camera is moving. V Detail Frequency will lower the resolution slightly, but will attempt to eliminate this.

Progressive: Either interlaced or progressive recording modes.

Hope that helped! I don't think all of that is completely accurate, but it should give you an idea. Just mess around with it a bit and find what you like!

Put the scene file wheel on whatever number u want then, menu..scenefile...mess with the above mentioned settings :) and save . U can also name each scenefile.

REMEMBER TO SAVE...or else when u turn off the camera all that will be lost and reset to default or watever previous settings were on it.
