I'm looking for a used Sony ECM-44B wired lavalier mic. I'm in a tight spot at work with budget cuts (state government)...They created a video position and hired me away from another job, and now I'm playing hell trying to get equipment. This will be a personal item, but I'll be bringing it to work so I don't look like an idiot... Finally got a camera kit together (HMC150), but they didn't have the money for a good mic, so I'm stuck with a s**tty consumer grade Audio-Technica VHF system from Besy Buy they had laying around somewhere. It catches all sorts of interference...steaming pile of crap.

So I need a reliable mic, and I'm not worried about being wired in... Anybody got one they'd part with for cheap? I'm looking to spend about $50 if that sounds reasonable...I'll entertain all offers though. It doesn't have to be pretty, just needs to sound good and not be falling apart. A new one is $180 - a little too much for me right now!

Thanks!

Andy

I've gotten a couple wired lavs from Audio Technica off ebay for around $30. I like the Sony ECM series, but the AT lavs worked well when I needed something cheap.

One thing to be careful of is that lav mics damage easily. If you purchase used ones, make sure it is coming from an honest source & then test it ASAP when it arrives at your door. A RE50b mic can pound nails & still work, but a lav can get ruined beyond affordable repair with a single bad tug.
