Used FCP??!!

Is there such a thing as buying FCP "used" and if so, what should I be looking out for (apart from the version)?

It needs to be completely deactivated from the original user's computer.

Buying licensed software second-hand isn't, in and of itself, a problem. Buying a licensed program that's been upgraded by the original owner is, as the license of the upgrade is only legal under the license of the original software. If you buy a "used" copy of FCS2 from some one who has upgraded to FCS3, FCS2 cannot be installed and used on your computer without violating the original EULA. Further, the copy you purchase won't be eligible for an upgrade, since the upgrade license has already been used.

You're going to have a hard time finding what you need this way. Ideally, it will be from some one who has switched platforms and no longer uses FCS at all.

Or an unopened box. Not that hard to find. Not going to be free but sure you could find a discount someplace. Good for you for at least attempting this instead of just downloading a pirated copy.
