Use the Ikan 8000HDe with the AF100?

Hello!

After a long time of thinking, watching and crying, I finally bought the AF100. My first test indicates that this is a hell of a camera!

However, I cannot get my Ikan 8000HDe to work with it. I've tried to change several options in the menu, and connecting it with a BNC cabel. Also tried (maybe not long enough) with a RCA to bnc cabel. Or whatever its called.

Is there a way to make this work?

Thank you for your time

It definitely is.

Well, the problem is probably that the 8000HDe doesn't have SDI or HDMI input; it only has component, composite, and s-video input, and the AF100 doesn't have component or s-video output. So the only mode that you can make it work with would be standard-def composite -- which should work if you use an RCA to BNC cable. You would be connecting to the yellow "video out" jack.

Barry green is correct ... the V8000HDe is an older discontinued all analog model and does not feature either HDMI nor SDI compatibilities. To use with a FS100 you would have to use the composite video port which is the only analog video option available with that camera. I have not held that camera in my hands or had personal experience with it, but from looking at the sales brochure on the Panasonic web site, the composite video port is the yellow RCA connection on the back of the camera. This yellow RCA connection would connect to the composite port on the ikan V8000HDe which is a BNC connection. you would still need the RCA to BNC cable. Make sure you have the correct input selected on the monitor.

Note using the composite port will limit you to standard definition previews only. You might want to consider upgrading the monitor to a more current monitor in the ikan line. there are several to choose from. the lower cost VL and VH series of monitors feature HDMI inputs and for a more robust feature set look at the VX series which add HD-SDI and other useful features for shooting in the field.
