Use of EF Adapters on FS700 Camera?

A client wants to use EF adapters and Canon still lenses on my FS700. What problems to look out for? How to best get good results?

Shouldn't really be a big deal. Ask them which adapter they plan to use since you don't really want people putting cheap sh*t on your camera. There are a few brands everyone uses on this board Metabones being the most prevalent and well regarded. Shouldn't be any problem since they are fairly dumb devices aside from iris control and IS if it's available on the lens. Other than that point, expose and shoot.

I beg to differ. On the Canon side of things, they aren't "dumb devices" specifically for the reason you stated. They have electronics and firmware in order to control the iris and IS, without these electronics, you can't adjust the aperture of your Canon lenses. I've had these adapters act strangely with my Sigma 30mm 1.4 and other non-Canon lenses.

I switched to Nikon glass, THOSE are the "dumb adapters'. Literally just a ring the pushes a little pin for the aperture that is on the back of every Nikon lens. No pins, no electronics, no firmware, no bugs.

I'd find out what Canon lenses they want to use. These days, I think Metabones is pretty reliable but back when I first got my FS700, it was buggy for the lenses I had.

Good points. I guess when o say dumb I mean not that complex...either they work with the lens or they don't . I have never had an issue...but also don't own that lens. Truthfully I don't like the idea of sticking anyone's accessories on my camera.

I've gone from a Metabones EF smart adapter II to a Metabones EF Speedbooster. I only ever use the speedbooster now. Not only does it give me a full frame fs700 look, but it also increases sharpness and allows a shallower depth of field by being able to dial your lens down an extra stop. For example, an F4 Canon lens can be turned into F2.8 with a speedbooster.

The only thing to be mindful of these days is that if you get a speedbooster, your wide angle crop lenses (if you own any) will get significant vignetting. Much like putting a crop lens on a full frame camera. I had issues with the speedbooster in the early days, but its been rock solid since a firmware upgrade. All my Canon lenses work perfectly with it. I barely even remember its there any more.
