Anyone try to use a flash drive to off load footage? I tried using a older 4 GB flash drive, formatted in-camera and only had a single 10 second test clip to transfer. I got a prompt that said "lack of capacity." I then pulled the drive and tried to see it on my Mac and that didn't work, the Mac won't see it. I want to be able to use a 32GB flash drive to off load footage from P2 then transfer it to my Mac for transcoding.

It's taking the entire capacity of your P2 card regardless how much you shot. You pretty much have to use an ancient 4 Gb P2 card to use a 4 Gb usb flash drive. 64 Gb usb flash drive is your best option as it will able to take 32 & 64 Gb.
Good idea over the extra delicate mechanical hds. SSD is way too expensive now. I personally use the cheaper 64 Gb CF Type 2 cards commonly used on dslrs. It's the poor's man SSD.

I'll go pick up a large flash drive then, see if that takes care of it - thanks. I'm shooting on multiple 16GB P2 cards right now. I actually like the 16GBs since they hold less footage to sift through.
However, I'm confused as to why the flash drive would not show up on my Mac.

Typically you have to format the USB flash drive before it can be copied. If copy is not successful, the USB flash has no master partition table for the Mac to access. Subsequently Mac or PC will not read it. However, when copy is successful, you'll see it right away. What nice about it is that it's copying an image clone of your P2 card. So it's ideal to name the P2 volume properly vs leaving "NO NAME". It is a very crude way of copy, but works every time. The verify function is very helpful if you happen to drive in bumpy road or w/ heavy shock and copy at the same time.
In your case of 16 Gb P2s, you will have to create 2 partitions on the 32 Gb USB flash or leave as-is if it's 16 Gb. Personally I prefer larger capacity because those small CF cards/USB mem sticks can get misplaced easily when too many of them are laying around.
