US Coast Gard Chopper Caught on Film perfomring a "rescue".

Listening to you reminds me of home (I'm from Staten Island). You ever find out what it was?

Cool footage...but god, I HATE .wmv files.

Nice. You shot that over by the Narrows? I know the police train over there all the time. I used to see them when I lived in Bay Ridge. But I had never seen them train at night...

i though the boat was on fire, and they were doing a real rescue. but, apprently on viewing the footy on my big tv, its just another coastgard ship, and they were practicing.

Ehhh..... lame.

i was gonna ask where the rescue was cause I couldn't really tell from the footage. Even though it may not have been real, there was a real reality drama feel to the footage, German bystanders included. What were those apperature switches going on? There seemed to be a good setting at first, and then it got dark. I assumed by that point you had realised it was a test rescue, and were hoping to salvage the footage for the networks by lowering the visability facter. I've used that trick often myself. A few local networks here buy quasi reality stuff all the time, Pm me if you want some addresses.

I think it was the 2fps hack that gave the lighter exposure. Then when he switched back to a normal framerate that was as light as it could get.

yea i was timlasping a sunset, then i saw the chopper buzz us, and fly out over the water, then i zoomed in, and followed him in 2fps. when i saw he was approaching the boat, i switched back to 24/720p, with a 1/12 shutter and 9db gain. it was practically night by that time though. it was all i could see.
