Urine Trouble

WTF?!!! Somebody find out where this guy lives and lock him up!!! What kind of a sick, twisted, demented mind thinks up this stuff? I was shocked. I stared in horror at this movie..... well, most of the time I was cracking up, actually. This is definitely the funniest thing I've seen yet. You are going into my top three. Not just because it was freaking hilarious, but because the filmmaking was pretty darn good, the effects worked, and the acting was decent (especially the dickhead in the urinal cake colored Polo).
 
The song, "Urinal Birthday Cake" was done by The Anti (www.myspace.com/theantionline) He does wonderful cock-pop death-rock soundtracks, including one for my earlier movie, UNSETTLED: Worlds Only Zombie and Pilgrim Movie. Oh yeah, if anyone's looking for me I live in the Midwest. We have Horror EVERYWHERE.
 
I now bring offerings of food for the urinal mints whenever I go out. :)

This has to be the funniest flick of the entire fest.
 
I must say this was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. You got something right that MOST people in this contest cant, and thats an entertaining movie! you should be proud for being one of the few.

I have to give you guys props.

Actually most of the movies in the fest are awfully entertaining... not sure whether this comment was justified or not.

Great work on the movie, guys. I'm terrified of the urinal cakes now!!!
 
I like movies that physically change what you think about everyday objects, such as urinal cakes. I want people to think about this whenever they take a pee (just need to think of a female equivalant, double the audience!). I really like that movie, The Money Pit.
 
Okay Okay.......I almost didn't watch this due to ghost pains from even thinking about the screen grabs, but I scraped up the courage and clicked play. I then proceeded to laugh a lot! this film is definitely one of the most entertaining shorts here. I loved the little urinal cakes making weird noises and frothing. this is hilarious and could DEFINITELY become a cult B horror movie!!!!!

Well you did have something right in that statement you made, and that was the word awfully. they entertained awfully.

So this is where I have to disagree....I found most of the movies in the fest actually quite boring. so in point I did not find them entertaining( except a few of course) and that is completely justified
 
Review | POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT! I watch the movies first time around strictly for enjoyment, second and third for review.

Another funny entry with some CRITTERS worthy special effects. A horribly cheesy idea taken to a different level.

Script - Terrible. LOL. I'm sorry but it was probably the worst idea ever. However, you had funny dialogue going on. A line that comes to mind is "he's probably taking a big dump!" and "what happened to his weiner!?". Just a bad script, dude.

Direction - Suprisingly decent. Your camera action in the beginning was pretty good. When you ended up within the constraints of the bathroom it falls apart, for the most part. Coverage on the freaky urinal cakes was actually pretty darned good, though. You had a creative Urinale Cake POV shot going on in the urinal. Overall this aspect was pretty surprising given the material.

Acting - Your urinal cakes upstaged your humans. Your two guys were good, two girls were pretty bad. Your "jerK" was the best actor of all. And your married couple weren't too bad with reactions.

Cine/Lighting - Something tells me you didn't have enough space/time to light the diner as well as you wanted too. Maybe not enough funds. It wasn't bad by any means but I see an odd contrast of light to dark between your subjects and your background; it feels like the background should've been darker, not lighter. Otherwise I've got no complaints.

Editing - Whoooo your cuts took forever. Stuck on things too long. I'd have to say that it could be tightened for pacing, right now it's a little laggy. For what it's worth, I think that this could help you out some.

Sound - Easily one of the worst parts of this. Your creature's snarls and grumbles outshine everything else in this short. The diner is way too airy and I hear too much unwanted "noise", and the dialogue's a little muffled. This is me speaking from Headphone experience. I do have to say that your little Urinal Demons sounded just like CRITTERS, which works. The score just didn't cut it for me. THen again it made it funnier so I guess it worked.

Special Effects/Art Direction/Wardrobe - Your puppet Urinal Cakes should win something for sure. These are some of the best creatures in the fest. I dunno how the heck you did it, maybe you faked the size? But they're CRITTERS worthy and I loved CRITTERS to begin with. I also think your destroyed male groin was pretty nasty. Pretty bold too. Blood was way too painty on the girls face, but worked on the floor and elsewhere. I think your special effects outshined everything else in this.

Scariest Moments - The Urinal Demon with the green crap in it's mouth. THat was just gross.

Overall consensus - A horrible, funny concept taken to the next level for sure. I think if you applied your critter/urinal demon creation techniques in a more serious fashion, coupled with your cine-quality in the beginning you could do something pretty damned decent. This was in no way as bad as I thought it was going to be, and kicked a lot of ass in the creature creation department. Thanks for solidifying the reason I never use Urinals to begin with; I'm a stall-with-door kinda guy, anyway. Thanks for exhibiting!
 
Peter Jackson would be proud. I am more or less on the same page as Kholi on this one. The drunk dude was cracking me up; I enjoyed the prod value of an actual location with more than a cast of 2

Agreed. Between your actual Urinal Demons and the Location with all the extras and employees, that all seems pretty costly. I'd be interested in knowing what your budget was.
 
Your movie didn't really qualify as horror, but neither did half of the submissions so it doesn't matter.

I like your short. It was simple, coherent, and didn't take itself seriously. Plus, it was original. Urinal cakes killing people? It doesn't get more original than that.

It was refreshing to get to Urine Trouble and have a laugh.
