Urgent: Quicktime Conversion vs. Compressor

Heyyo,
I have a quick question and it's really urgent.

I'm about to upload a viral video I directed for a major corporation (my first commercial job!), and now when to export my Compressor isn't working. Probably has something to do with the fact that I illegally downloaded DVD Studio Pro 4, because I couldn't find my discs.

But I'm wondering how different is Quicktime conversion from Compressor? This is for uploading HD video to Youtube. I had a great setting on Compressor but now I can't use it. But from what I can see I can mimic those setting when I just use Quicktime conversion. Is there any difference?

THANKS!

Let me be clear: I own the software. I bought Final Cut Studio 2.

For clarification: My installation discs are at school (east coast) and I am at home (west coast), and because I hadn't installed DVD Studio Pro, I didn't feel bad about illegally downloading it, having already paid.

Now my Compressor isn't working because of the DVD Studio download... and I'm just curious whether quicktime conversion in FCP is as effective as Compressor for H.264 to Youtube? What's the difference?

Can you help me now? Come on dude, I frequent DVXuser regularly— and I'm not some shmuck using ripped Final Cut Studio. I mentioned that I didn't have my discs—which would imply that I own them— what's with the hostility?

And just to be safe, you can make disc images of your original discs and keep them on a little "travel system restore" HDD as you travel. That is what I do. With regards to the licensed serial number for FCS, you should be able to contact apple and get your license info, especially if you registered it.

And to answer your question,

Compression gives you very finely tuned control. It can take any of those QT Conversion settings and give you much better precision, but it doesn't quite work the other way around. For a client to review the video, exporting via QT conversion "should" be fine, but if its not, if you lack enough control to make the output meet your/their specs, your only solution might be, as other mentioned, to overnight the original discs.

And I can appreciate the hostility after sinking $1k into software in addition to hardware costs and potentially (potentially being the operative word) having someone who isn't licensed to have the software asking a question like that...

Next time you might want to leave out the legally compromised background and simply state the question.

Happy editing :)

Yeah thanks everyone!

Believe me, it was my first time doing a torrent and I feel dirty because of it. I would have overnighted the discs if they weren't sitting in a locked storage container at school. Sorry for any signs of hostility, I should have been more clear/omitted the note about downloading. And yeah, I was like "COME ON MAN, I THREW DOWN SO MUCH MONEY FOR FCS 2!"

The disc image idea is really nifty, I never thought about that.
