I posted this in the d90 section an I would normally be patient but I need to figure this out this week! Sorry here goes
Ive been doing semi pro photography with my d90 for a year now as a side business. But i was contacted to record a concert and do post reception stills for a piano recital in a probably dim lit church.

my first idea: record video with d90 and 85mm 1.8 at 480p ( i think quality is decent plus i need the 20 min limit as opposed to 5 minutes because each piece will be more than 5 minutes long)

and planning to record audio seperately to my laptop with this mic and sync it later

ive used it to record my own audition cd on piano and it was pretty good.

is this a feasible idea?

also, what program should i use to record audio with? ( for my quick recording i used audacity LoL!)

I think it might be feasible... It certainly wouldn't be my first choice (or second, or third, etc), but doable.

Audio program-wise, audacity is a very powerful program! I would not underestimate it. that being said, what is your budget?

My budget is $150 for audio portion. And after talking to some audio buddies they said I should go with a Zoom H1 or H2 for audio that would be a ton better than that mic and my laptop. H2 is $140. H1 $99.

As for video. , I'm really gonna have to study the sticky thread in the d90 section on how to get a good clean IQ in movie mode.
