GH2 Urgent Question - GH2 - Ziess

Heartfelt

Well-known member
Gang,
I am on the cusp of n initial purchase in a corporate rig. My personal (GH2/20MM1.7/50mmFD/1.4) has me convinced of the platforms ability to do well in a corporate pkg. The recent news of the 2012 Zacuto shootout certainly helps... any way...

I am budgeting tomorrow, May 22nd. Here is the question:
Scenario: docu-advert: Interviews-Shop footage

Am I better with Ziess 25mm and 35mm or... am I better with a single CP lens... 35mm ?

What do you think? If it flies, I will have a nice LED portable lighting kit.

purchase and will be the beginning of more. i just don't know if the the quality of the CP line is worth limiting myself in the beginning.

I would heavily consider looking beyond the 25/35 combo, and consider dropping one for a longer lens. You'll find quite a few comments in this section from people who consider either 24 or 35 their go-to focal length for most jobs, but that there are certain characteristics found in a longer lens that are sometimes excellent to have, especially when it comes to footage of little details around the shop.

Thanks for the heads up. I will likely follow up (round 2) with a a purchase of a 50 or something larger.

According to the Abel Cine calculator, the AF100 (GH2 sensor is slightly bigger) with an 85mm lens has a comparable field of view to:

Super-35 Film: 120.5mm
Canon APS-C: 113.3mm
Canon Full Frame: 174.4mm

Yes, I was considering the 2x crop factor.

Mainly because of how I am forced to shoot with my 50mmFD 1.4 on my personal rig.

yes my understanding of terms is not deep. I am thinking functionally and is about all I can define or speak to.

Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious.

Or said simply... "missed it by THAT much!"
