Urgent Pal > NTSC DVD conversion

We filmed a wedding project in March and finished the final DVD in May. We had to complete the project using FCP on a macbook and Premiere on Windows XP. Burned the DVD, everything was great. Backed up files, moved on.

A few days ago our client contacted us again. Apparently due to their relatives in Canada, they want us to provide them with NTSC copies of the DVD.

This sounds like it's a huge undertaking, the files have since been scattered in archives and potentially render files would have to be created again (considering the DVD is 1 hour 30 minutes long).

So how do we take our PAL DVD and make it NTSC? What will it involve, especially considering that our project was created over 2 different pieces of software.

Help would be much appreciated.

We shot 25P.

If you don't mind a 4% speedchange, a nice and basically lossless way of converting would be to change the framerate of the video to 24p, resize and make a 24p NTSC DVD. Then all you had to do was resize the menus as well, and author an NTSC version. If you don't want the speedchange, you'll need to convert to 30i which, especially coming from 25p, would induce quite a big quality loss. For that, I had the best results using Canopus Procoder on Windows.
