Urgent help with recording format...

Hi!

I'm shooting an event in Greece in a couple of hours. It is going to be broadcasted on some local tv channel.

The other cameraguy will have a Canon XHA1. I will have a HMC150... So the urgent question is: What format should I shoot in? I need to mix our footage, and his camera shoots only in 1080i and I will shoot it in either 1080p or 720p (or should I also go interlaced?). This far we have done jobs only for youtube and so on, but this is on TV...If I shoot it in 1080i, will it look bad when viewed on their homepage? Should I stay away from progressive scan when shooting for TV? Or can that be solved by simply choosing interlaced when exporting in Premiere?

Is there any point in shooting 50fps when a TV only can show 25 of the frames, will we have problems?

I'm really greatfull for any answers!

I'm not sure what the broadcast standards are for the station you're shooting for, but match their standards first, but beyond that, if you are mixing footage, I would advise matching your camera to your shooting partner's. Shoot 1080i if that's the best that his XHA1 can do.

I would personally shoot with both in progressive. I'm pretty sure the Canon will shoot 25p (or 25 psf, whatever Canon calls it...)

Thanks for all the quick replies, guys!

So the event is over, and I decided to go with 1080 50i. It will also be out on the net, so when I export the project, should I choose Progressive in "field type" in Premiere? I noticed when I exported a little test that I got all the bad interlaced lines if I didn't choose Progressive... This might be a stupid question but it might be worth asking...
