Urgent help needed !

Have huge car show to attend friday and we are going to promote the film there. Leaving town tomorrow to head out to show.

Need to burn a promo DVD of 4 of my scenes.

Created new project and tried to render it. Vegas FAILING... I have no clue why. Never had that problem before

DESCRIPTION:

1. Unable to render as mpg2 for burning with Dv architect. I am using my pre saved usual settings, which worked just fine last time I tried this. Today it is immediately displaying this error message:

"an error occured while creating the media file. The reason for error could not be determined" (oh that's very helpful LOL)

For kicks, I then tried to render as quicktime file, uncompressed:

2- failed to render as quicktime. is only making the sfl file and is not rendering/making a .mov file. Not giving me any error message though, just saying job completed (in about 4 seconds) and when I check all I find is the sfl file... No .mov file.

3- Puzzled I then tried to render as an .avi - did the job perfect.

4- Still troubleshooting I then tried rendering as mpg4 (my vimeo presets) and it rendered Ok too.

I NEED THIS DVD OR I AM DEAD DUCK. What is going on?

NOTE: the only thing different currently in my PC hardware wise is I added an internal SATA expension card to add more hard drives. Note that the hard drive connected to that card are working fine and NOTE THAT THE FOOTAGE I AM TRYING TO RENDER DOES NOT RESIDE ON THE NEW ADDED DRIVES. So this has probably no bearing at all, but i thought I'd mention this hardware change just in case it could be affecting me somehow...

CAN ANYONE HELP ME SO I CAN BURN MY WORK TODAY? I LEAVE TOMORROW MORNING!!!

1) Have you done this before? Do you still have the DVD Architect project saved? Do you still have the rendered DVD files? If so, you can burn DVDs using that.

2) Can you use the AVI you rendered in DVD Architect?

3) Do you have a current DVD you can just copy?

Yes, I am aware of that option, but this is a brand new project that has never been rendered, or burnt into a DVD before.

2) Can you use the AVI you rendered in DVD Architect?

I don't know... You tell me LOL. I am under the impression that DVD architect needs to have the two seperate files, the MGP file and then the sound file with the same name. I am not aware that we can use any other type of files... Can someone chime in?

3) Do you have a current DVD you can just copy?

No (see answer #1)

WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?

:(

I don't know what's causing it, but for your purposes today, you should be able to use the AVI file; DVD Architect will make the necessary conversion when you Prepare the disc.

(Unless it's a codec which DVD Architect doesn't recognize.)

Sounds like a good plan :). Since I am using Vegas Sony to make the .avi file to use in SONY Dv architect, can you tell me which vegas avi setting to use so DV architect is happy? I;m stuvk at my day job rigth now so I wo't be back home until later and will not have a lot of time to do many attempt :(... if you are able to save my from failing, I might be able to burn my DVD tonight and that will save the day!

I'd do it as uncompressed, or as 24p Widescreen DV (2-3-3-2 pulldown).

(Remember, though, that SD 16:9 is wider than HD 16:9, so there will be slight black bars on the sides of the image, whether it's MPEG-2, DV, whatever . . . )

Faith,

What version of Vegas and DVDA are you running?

Is this project a bigger size than you've done before? Are there any still images?

Some additional thoughts...

I thought this had happened to me one time. Is there a partially rendered file out there already? Can you remove any rendered version of the file and try it again.

or... have you tried rendering to a different name or save the project as a different name?

Also, have you tried making a smaller loop region, and try to render that?

Just trying to isolate the problem through trial and error. :)
