URGENT cpu help needed

So I am upgrading my CPU, but I cant figure out what kind of socket my motherboard has. The pins are on the CPU, the current CPU is a P42.6GHz w/HT. I get the sinking feeling its the 478 socket wich wont allow for a dual core chip but I figure I better make sure.

The easiest way would be to know what your motherboard is. A quick google search will yield the socket type.

So just pop open the case and see what it is?

Yeah it should be etched on there somewhere. Might need a flashlight. Get a model number and google for the specs and manual.

Just run CPUZ (doesn't need installing - just run it)

It'll tell you what CPU it is - as well as everything else
On the main tab -the "package" info is the CPU socket type
