URGENT Audio not working in FCP7 timeline

In the viewer window the clip and the audio play fine but when I add it to the timeline there is no audio. There is no audio track and there is no audio tab. Clips that I added before this problem started work fine but new ones that I added dont. I started a new project file and loaded the same clip and it works fine. I tried everything on http://www.fcpbook.com/Audio2.html PLEASE HELP, I am editing a very time sensitive piece.

i think u imported non optimized media file. before importing export to quicktime movie

May seem like a basic issue... but are you sure your audio target tracks were selected? If they weren't, audio won't drop into the time line. If that changed after other clips were added, that could explain the problem.

I made a new sequence and copied everything over to it, now it works fine

I'm 99% sure this is your problem:

If you have these tabs open in your timeline like this:

then you're not carrying your audio track down from the viewer. Click on them (either side) so they are closed like this:

and you're good!

That's why you didn't have the problem in the new timeline. By default, the tabs are set to be connected so in a new timeline, it's not a problem. But really two clicks would solve it.

It's actually quite useful once you know how to use it. Especially when dealing with DVCPro footage with 4 audio tracks and they just keep getting in the way, you can choose to import with only this track and this track, etc.
