Urgent! AF and Ki Pro. Need advice for removing pulldown.

Hey guys. I'm sure this has been posted before, but I'm without computer and searching on this phone is difficult.

We are filming on the AF100 recording dual system to the Ki Pro. In order to use the Cineroid I would like to output 60i to the Ki Pro (not mini) and remove pulldown in post (shooting 23.98 of course).

No brainer, right? I was told there would be audio slip issues on longer takes, which has the post crew worried.

Anybody willing to walk me through this? It will be cut in FCP.

1) does the AF100 flag redundant frames? Can the Ki Pro read that? Can Final Cut detect it? Or is that a job for Cinema Tools?

2) is there any quality loss in wrapping 24p in a 60i stream and removing pulldown?

Thanks. We are going to start testing this later today. Everything I know about this is theory, so I could definitely use help when it comes to application.

I would recommend the following based on what you are describing as your setup:

- Route your audio to the Panasonic AG-AF100 first, then the SDI output of the camera to the Ki Pro. Why? In testing at AJA, we noticed that the camera has an approximately two frame processing delay between what the sensor "sees" and what the SDI outputs. If you route audio to the Ki Pro directly - without first passing it through the camera - the audio will be out of sync by two frames. If you route the audio to the Panasonic AG-AF100 first, then embedded SDI audio to the Ki Pro, the audio will be in sync.

- If you route the SDI video to the Ki Pro from the Panasonic AG-AF100, and you are shooting 23.98, it would be wise to set the 1080PsF 23.98 SDI option on the camera, this way the Ki Pro records at your desired frame rate for the project. As far as the Cineroid EVF, while the specs are not at hand, it likely will accept 1080p 23.98; if so, you may be able to configure the Ki Pro to accept 1080PsF 23.98 via SDI but output 1080p 23.98 via HDMI (there is a menu setting called 1080p Playback on the Ki Pro that allows PsF to be output as true progressive - haven't tried configuring it as Progressive and then outputting to a Cineroid, but it might work - no promises though).

You might want to contact AJA Technical Support if you need assistance with the Ki Pro.
