Uprezzing to HD - does it look any better?

Re: Uprezzing to HD - does it look any better?

Here first? No, we were talking about the HDVX100 back when I first did those tests... I don't even remember how long ago it was, I guess it was in 2003. No news here, folks... move along...

Wondering...what was it really then in 'disjecta's recent find' that you endorsed in another post.
I think instead of asking you I should read that thread again.

Re: Uprezzing to HD - does it look any better?

So just for the hell of it, I uprezzed a 16:9 frame from the DVX to 1920x1280 and brought it into a HD project in Vegas 5. When I put it on the timeline it is smaller than the available frame in the monitor window. Even though the project and the file are both 1920x1280....what's up with that? I'm not very familiar with Vegas so maybe I'm not doing something obvious?
Disjecta, make sure that your project settings are set to square pixels, not .9 (DV) pixels, or anamorphic.

I tried that...it came in as square pixels...the same thing happened in Premiere....I think I must be losing my mind. I think I need to get out of the testing lab for a while.. ;)

So let's just say right now I wanted to project the uprezzed footage in a theater with a digital projector or maybe just an HD set at home.
Could I either: A) Burn it as a WMP9 DVD and play it through a cpu. B) Output to a JVC D-VHS recorder and play my footage through that. C) Both? D) Neither?
