Uprezzing 4:3 on original DVX?

I'm using the original DVX100 and shooting in 4:3 aspect ratio specifically to have that aspect ratio.

I know a lot of people will be confused by this, but I actually like that ratio right now, taking inspiration from older films which utilize the squarer frame.

I DON'T THINK I'll ever need to uprez this, but in the event I do, I'm curious how this would work? Could I uprez this without stretching it to 16:9 resolution? I, or the program I use, would simply have black on both sides, no?

Well, I think you could go with the Photozoom route: export your timeline as a image secuence, then uprezz those bunch of tiff with Photozoom, and reimport to a HD secuence. Is a great app, and more experimented dvxusers have done some great films with it. And, because the app deals with photos, is aspect ratio independent

As there's no TV standard for a bigger 4:3 aspect ratio, you'd need to make it into an HD frame with black at sides, this is called 'pillar-boxing'.

I figured I'd have to pillar box, I just wanted to know if programs generally do this without distorting the image. I would assume so, thanks.
