Uprezzed Rap Video

^ Sorry it wasn't to your liking.

It was shot with the original DVX100 (non A or B). Just tweaked some settings in the scene file and shot at 24PA, as always.

Had three or four halogen shop lights, and that's it! The best part about shooting a music video is not having to worry about audio!

To uprez, I shot it with widescreen bars, and in Vegas, created a 1280x720 project and dropped it in. Fit it to the proper aspect ratio (erasing the black bars) and viola!
 
um i didn't have any interlacing problems...so i don't know what that's about. it looked good to me and i've done the same thing so i know exactly what you are talking about. good job.

personally i dont get the video. why'd he kill her? what was the point of the vid?
 
Spot on Darren, it sort of looks like 50i or 60i and it was the content that I was not not fond of.
Technically I thought it was well done and edited and there were some great shots, but agreeing with Darren, why'd he kill her and why was every second word he said F#@%.

With content like this, it makes it hard for general viewing, like its not even something you'd show your folks. Well I know my folks wouldn't really appreciate it!
 
The customer is always right! I certainly did not write the content, but it made the customer happy.

This was 24P and not 60i, but I see where you're coming from.

Could you tell me what the vid is about? As in why did he kill her or what the story is..cuz i dont get it...and the last part...

I thought it looked good, the lighting could have been a bit more dramatic and the production design was lacking a bit, but I'm sure you had a small budget so good job with what you had.
 
Thanks! Yea, the budget was very small and production was very short (one day)....

They wanted a "Hostel" type feel, so its kinda like a pay-per-torture maybe? I'm not sure... but the chocolate blood looked decent, even in color! Thanks Hersheys!
 
my apologies on the interlacing thing...i get it now.

as for worklights - man i stopped using those a long time ago. they get too freaking hot :grin: i now have a boat load of CFLs. costs a little more, but they last a lot longer and a lot cooler both in handling and when you have people sitting under or around them.

no seriously while i might not be a big fan of the music or style. you did a great job and the best compliment is that the client likes it. which could mean they use you again and/or recommend you to other people so kudos!
 
Great work. It's hard to believe this DVX though. Do you remember your Syncro Scan settings, (i.e. 1/24, 1/30, 1/60)? I know sometimes I adjust the the syncro scan settings to get different looks.

I like some rap. But the story in this video did not make any sense at all. It's kind of ironic that hard core rappers have the reputation of being misygonist and in this vid he chops up a beautiful girl while rapping?? lol. I graduated from an HBCU (Historically Black College University) and If I put this up on the alumni message board they would "dis" this rap video very harshly. Especially with no clear message at the end. Man some young rappers just don't get it today..and that is that hip-hop is going back to it's fun style type rap in the mid 80's rather than the "hard" and misyognistic and gangster themes of rap videos of the 90's. Sometimes some young artists want to "shock" the world toward fame and that's kind of like selling their soul to the Devil;you know they write about the most dispicable and most unpopular thing so to create a "media buzz" in order to get noticed. But hey it's a free country,people should have the freedom to create what they want,and others should have the freedom to criticize what people create.
 
great uprez dude. I'm with everyone thoug, still don't get why he kills her lol. But still a good music vid.
