Uppdate computer for Avid!

Hi!

I'm using Avid Xpress Pro v.5.6.2 and are thinking about to uppdate the computer.

I have
motherboard: Asus P5GDC Deluxe
processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20GHz and Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.21GHz
memory: 1GB
graphic card: PNY NVIDIA QUADRO FX 550
sound card:I think some from C-media
hard disk: have one disk with 42GB left

I want to use the computer only to edit.

What should I bought more off and what should I buy new off?

1. Check the sound card is supported and replace it if not.
2. Buy more hard disks.
3. Buy more RAM.

If you have money left after that, upgrade the rest :).
 
Agreed, and don't have your media on the same drive as your operating system. You'll see a tremendous jump in performace by just adding a hard drive and seperating those two things.
 
I have right now a computer that one on my dads work have build.


But what's the best: uppdate the computer I have right now or buy a computer who Avid recommend?


I'm thinking about to buy a computer that Avid recommend beacuse I have trouble with my new graphic card Nvidia Quadro FX 550 and use the computer I have now like gamecomputer.



What should you do? Uppdate the computer or buy a Avid recommend computer?

I make a gamecomputer of the computer I have now and buy a Dell Precision 390 beacuse it supports Nvidia FX 550.
