Uploading with a different camera.

I'll be shooting using a DVX100A in 24p. I want to use an canon Elura100 to upload the footage onto my computer. Elura100 is just a small consumer camera, and it only shoots in 60i. Will this be a problem for playback or upload?

That a good idea because it keeps less time on your heads. I am getting my canon zr100 fixed so that I can do the same. I doesn't matter how you upload, it matter what you shoot it on. For quite a while now I have been waiting for some random brand to make a little mindv capture deck that is like a bottom of the line camera without a lens and just the vcr feature. They would sell like crazy if they were like $100. The cheapest minidv cam brand new If have found was the zr800 from canon. It's in the new b&h.

could putting your tape in another camcorder to upload footage then back in the dvx damage the heads on the dvx? like damage the tape, then transferring it back to the dvx damage the dvx's heads?(possible scenerios i would think of is if the heads are oiled or designed differently and physically damage the tape strip

) just throwing that out there.

It could if the camera was used and the guy what like "you are not supposed to mix brands?" B&H has a brand new zr800 for $150 check her out.

I could see this being a problem if i was shooting with different brands of tapes, i know the lubricants and such on tapes (especially HDV tapes) can cause problems with the heads, but otherwise i dont know why it would.

You have to be careful, though -- some really cheap camcorders won't transfer the meta data with the footage, which means that you'll lose your pulldown flags and won't be able to remove pulldown automatically from 24p footage. It's not a problem for 95% percent of camcorders, but the cheaper you go, the more the risk there is.

this thread could very easily have one or two words replaced and have it sound like we're talking about the "hows" of spreading STDs.

g15-"hey dvx"

dvx-"hey how are you, last night was great, never got head like that before"

g15-"yea about last night..."

dvx-"what is it?"

g15-"well I just got my heads cleaned..and"

dvx-"oh really? how did it go?"

g15-"well, remember that tape we shared? I have AIDS"

dvx-"you're fired"

g15-"philadelphia?"

(i'm hoping other films buffs will get the reference)
