Uploading Files to Send to Clients ...File Sharing suggestion

Sorry, I did not know which forum to post this in; however, this is the forum I browse most, being a HMC150 owner.

Usually I use Depositfiles.com; however, I consistently run into files larger than 2GB... I need a web hosting service where I can post links for clients to download raw footage

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dropbox Pro might be the solution - 50GB of storage, no filesize limits. Drop the file onto a folder on your machine, wait for it to upload, right-click and you get a public link to give out. I think it's $5 or $10/mo.

Also RackSpace Cloud has a lot of great scalable solutions, depending on how often you'd need it: http://www.rackspacecloud.com/?CMP=Google_cloud+rackspace_broad

Remember that at these file sizes, it's typically the bandwidth that costs more than the storage. Until we all have gigabit fibre rolled out across the world, this will continue to be the case. Frankly, I often burn raw footage onto DVDs and mail them.

Seconded on Dropbox Pro. I've just started using the dropbox free version and you can get up to 8gb for free (if you refer enough new users), but the Pro version is only $99 a year or $10 a month for 50GB and double that for 100GB. Bandwidth speeds are pretty good, I uploaded a 700mb finished quicktime to deliver to a local film fest in the matter of a few minutes thanks to crazy campus upload speeds.

P.S. http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTE0MzgzMjE1OQ if anyone feels like signing up and get us both some free space.

If you have a web site...you already have a host...so why don't you just set-up your own FTP site for file transfer?
It's easy and if you use a free FTP client (I use coffeecup), won't cost you a penny extra.

I looked into Dropbox before; however, I was a bit confused about some things...

I need to be able to send a link to videos, and have clients download the video without a hassle. I read in some forums that the clients have to have an account as well???. I don't want the people I am sending video to have to sign up for any account (or pay).

No, your clients doesn't need any account. Use the public folder and you will be able to generate a link directly to a file or folder.
What you have heard is probably the ability to share folders more like you do on a local network including automatic sync, then you need an account. But not for the "public" folder.
