Uploading Barry Green's scene files to the HVX200A(205)

Hey Folks

Last week I got my 205A delivered and shortly after I got Barry Greens HVX200 Book. When I tried to upload the scene files I had a few problems. I searched the forum and aside from the other people who were having similar problems I could not find a solution.

So here it is. After a couple of hours dicking around last night I finally got it to work.

First off, this is for the HVX200A (HVX205A).

As other folks have said you should format the card in camera using the card utilities menu. After that, save your panny default scene files to the SD card in the same menu. Remember to give it a title, the default is 'Title 1'. I saved that to my computer for future use just in case.

Now, this is where it gets interesting, I copied Barry's scene files onto the SD card replacing the existing 'Private' folder according to the readme file on the same CD.

Guess what, I did not work. I tried different methods of copying etc but still no luck. I began to think the camera was not seeing the files so I took a look at the text files side by side.

First I opened the panny scene files and then compared them to Barry's scene files and I got a little surprise. They are ever so slightly different. Remember, I am comparing HVX200 scene files with the default HVX205A scene files.

The difference is this:

The second line in the text file is the camera model number. In Barry's scene files it is AG-HVX200P, but in my default scene files it was AG-HVX200T so I changed Barry's scene files to a 'T' instead of a 'P' to see what would happen, low and behold the camera recognized the files.

Hope this helps anyone out there with the same problem.

This is an awesome camera.

Cheers
