I’ve been shooting my show this year on the DVX in 24P mode, I think we succeeded in blowing away teh competition that shoots with betacam!
After a meeting with a major network where they told us they like our show and let us know HD might be a serious consideration because of how high the demand for HD TV shows is becoming, we are seriously considering upgrading to HD with in one or two seasons…
I am still confused about 720 vs 1080 HD – I understand it relates to vertical lines of res, but does delivery in either of these formats satisfy networks that are asking for HD content?? Is 1080 considered the standard and 720 considered “poor man’s” HD?
There is lots of streaming video on our site, I think our show could use an HD upgrade, let me know what you guys think:
www.hookmorefish.com
(the episode guide section has all of our videos - watch in quicktime instead of windows media if you can)
The timing of release of this camera couldn’t be any better!
I am trying to determine what the ramifications would be on our work flow…
Effects are done with Adobe After Effefts on a PC, and I cut with FCP 4.5 – I see that FCP 5 has all the features a serious muti cam HD production would need.
I fear that substantial hardware upgrades all around would be needed.
I use a dual 1.8 G5 with the stock video card, and my effects guy uses a 3 gig PC – he is planning on a full system upgrade this year, and I am telling him to wait until we determine the best configuration for working with full res HD.
Video cards are the main issue I guess… I need to get caught up on the recent video card developements.
Any thoughts would be great!
Steve
