Hello everyone,

2 years ago DVX100 came out! I couldn't believe it...I bought it right away once I tested it out. It was great. Then about 6 months later the DVX100A came out. I was unaware of this until about 1 1/2 years later. I shot my first movie using the DVX100 and I had a blast, but now I am getting better at using my camera and I would like it to do more. Like Auto Focus!!! This is very handy I have noticed when you don't have a dolly and need to do pushes!!! Well I can't do the auto focus in progressive mode...I feel a little cheated that panasonic modified its camera for others that soon after the DVX100 came out, because they new that they had made a few mistakes on the camera. SO NOW...does anyone know of any trade-ins or upgrades anywhere I can get a DVX100A without paying the extra 4 grand?

Please help!!!

Jeremy

In all seriousness, jerbuds, there is no reason that you should feel like you've been cheated with only having the dvx100. The DVX100A came out about a year later, and had some upgrades, but nothing that I would sell the original for. The peaking feature is nice, never ever have I used the auto focus in 24p, it isn't auto focus at all, it is focus assist, and very very slow. Visually, there is no difference between the two cameras, the A does have a couple extra cinegamma settings, but nothing to justify an additional purchase. If you really want to upgrade, don't go from a dvx100 to a 100a right now, upgrade to the HVX200. That would be an upgrade worth your money.

I agree with you scharky, but...

I have been making some "behind the scenes" on a movie we are making over here, and the movie itself is being shot on a dvx100ae, and I am shooting the other stuff with the dvx100e. Compared side-by-side, the dvx100ae's flip-out LCD was a lot better in sunlight (am I right on that or did my eyes just mess with me?), and the dvx100ae's squeeze widescreen is higher res than the 4:3/letterbox of my dvx100e.

But as scharky says, go for the HVX200 ;)

Listen to scharky, don't go for the Dvx100A, just wait acouple of months and get the HVX, you'll be making an upgrade then!

Hold onto the DVX100 and then just sell it through the marketplace once the HVX comes out.

I own the 100a and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world (like the 100b coming out), but if I had the 100 I wouldn't mind the features not being in there.

Some of the TOP pros around here have kept their 100's long after the A came out, if that means anything to you.

Thanks guys...you are all right!! I will wait for the HVX!!! That will be my upgrade. and I do love my DVX100 :)

Thanks
