Update??? its not in there

So I got some 16giggers and trying to update my camera.
I do everything the instructions tell me to do, I hit the menu button in MCR mode and go to "operation" and at the next page I see "delete", "format", "repair clip".
What happened to my "update" selection, in the instructions there is a "update" function on this page, not mine.
Please help!

Did you load the downloaded firmware update onto an SD card, into the proper "FW" directory? And is that SD card currently loaded in the camera?
 
It won't be there if the camera doesn't find a valid firmware image on the SD card.

So, you have to have a SD card in the camera, and you have to follow the instructions verbatim and keep the directory structure to ensure the image is in the right location.
 
Thanks so much for the quick responses, I was copying the whole folder instead of going in and just copying the "private" folder over.
Updating as I type.
