update HPX500

What about upgrading the HPX500 with the good things from the HPX170/300 like the improved LCOS LCD and the HD viewfinder of the HPX300 and some of the software updates of the HPX170 like immediate playback without having it to set it to the framerate it was shoot in etc. Together with (keeping) the 2/3" CCD (no rolling shutter issues, large latitude and sensitivity and pixecel offset because native HD chips is realistically seen to much to ask) it would be a killer cam and maybe a new impulse for sales now that next month the HPX300 will be available (for a lot of peoples purposes the rolling shutter issues are not acceptable but they love the other improvements of the HPX300).

I can not imangine the the HPX500 is not due for an upgrade before the end of this year !!!

i hope not! this wouldn't be fare, would i have to loose a bunch of money after a year and then buy a newer version ???? NOOO!!!!

I would love the quick delete of last clip that is in the HVX200A. Could that be a firmware update?

EXACTLY!!!!!!!
It's what i've been saying.......the HPX500 has been out for how many years??
If only they could do a little up-grade to it.
Take some of the R&D from the HPX300 and put it into the HPX500.
I'm ready to buy a new HPX500 but i can't bring myself to do it knowing all the R&D that went into the HPX300.
and no, the HPX300 will not work for me.
Paul,

I suspect that Red and Scarlet will change the business paradigm for all camera manufacturers, even Panasonic. Modularity is the future. So are upgrades.

Before, Panasonic wanted you to buy a whole new camera to get access to new goodies. But once Red starts their new line of modules, why would anybody buy another Panasonic? So Panasonic may be better in some way temporarily, but would I risk buying their camera and get locked into having the replace the entire thing, or buy a Red product and up grade... let's say... the chip when a better chip comes out... or a better encoding method.

From the decade I've been working this business, I've seen titans crumble. All those titans thought their business model was untouchable, many because their product had a vice-like monopolistic hold on the market (Hello..... AVID). If Panasonic doesn't change, just like Avid refused to for years, Panasonic will be quickly replaced... just like Avid is.
