I've only had my HVX for two weeks. Got it to do a client project...clients in from out of town to do a marathon of shooting for five days. I've got one HVX, a P2Store, 3 8GB cards, a MacBook, a 320GB FW drive, and at home I've got a Dual 2.0 G5 with .5TB.
My workflow in the field is to shoot on 720/30PN. One card at a time. As soon as the card is full (or really close), it goes straight into the P2Store. If I have time I will go ahead and import the footage into FCP via the P2 card in the P2Store. Otherwise, I'll just keep loading the footage into the P2Store. However, I am NOT re-formatting any of the cards until I SEE footage in playing in FCP from the FW drive on the MacBook. Then each night after shooting I come home and back up all of the footage that we brought into the FW drive. Also, I still have the data in the P2Store, and none of the cards are reformatted. So, then I back up the footage to my internal HDD on the G5, and keep it on the FW HDD as well. So, each night, I know I've got two copies of FOOTAGE from that day's shoot.
No problems to report. Had one little scare where I put a card in the P2Store to load directly into FCP, and in FCP it came up as one long piece of footage that showed nothing but static. I took out the card, powered down the P2 Store, and restarted it and everything showed up fine.
