How realistic are we by doing this method? Will the 'Red Giant' do it? Has anyone tried this?Will we need the same storage requirement when we start rendering the de interlaced project as this software suggests?.What is the advantages and disadvantages? I mean everyone is talking about downconversion of HD to SD to manage and edit projects.I find upconversion the better alternative especially to those who might still face the 'meager pocket issues.Another reason is for those who have had films done in SDs and now reaquired by distributors to submit in HD formats to broaden the distribution chances for SD created films.There can be numerous reasons for upconversions ..another is waiting for Godot to announce the lowering of prices for all HD products which wont happen but for another 2 to 3 years but in the meantime to those that still has a love affair with their DVX100's

i would like to know this as well.

ui know steve from pinelakefilms used some form up uprezzing with great success as his footage always looks sparkling. But does it really do that much? Is it worth spending a little ?
 
its not a question of spending little I think...its the values one has placed on those SD film projects that one worked very hard for.You fight for it and cloth and uprez it if those software permits it.Wonder if blowup from Uprez HD will look better too.Just need to know if those thousand of sd clips can still be resurrected to look regal in HD platform thats all.


what is this terranex box they are talking about?Is this done thru a lab?

I tested the trial version of Red Giant with PAL DV footage and this is my opinion:

- Do not use it as FCP Plugin! It is could be better that manually resizing in FCP but not so better to spend money...

- Works fine in AE. Better upresizzing, easiest control... The result... Sure it is better than manually resizing (and faster too) but far from a Real HD footage but I think is a good solution if you want to use SD footage in an HD production...

do you say the uprezz in after effex gives a better result than fcp?
