any way of seeing squeezed/anamorphic in 16:9 as you're filming? there's a really expensive attachment for the viewfinder, any inexpensive ideas?

Re: unsqueezing LCD/viewfinder

you can try getting one of those portable DVD players at wal-mart or k-mart for like $200 dollars. I should be able to view 16x9 on it. I don't know of anything cheaper than that. The cheapest way is to not buy one and just use the LCD of the camera. You gota make some sacrafice.

Re: unsqueezing LCD/viewfinder

you could buy a cheap lens (ie piece of glass - not a specialty lens) with a decompression factor equivalent to 16:9. It would be pretty cheap and it would be easy to tape to your LCD.

Re: unsqueezing LCD/viewfinder

Science stores sometimes sell geometrical optics demonstration kits, with flat models of lenses (which is essentially what the anamorphic adaptor is). The 'lenses' are made of resin, with not much of a quality, but it might work...

Re: unsqueezing LCD/viewfinder

there is at least one thread about this...

i have the century optics eyepiece, you put it on the built in eyepiece and it un-anamorphics either squeeze mode, or the panasonic anamorphic adaptor.

i use it all the time and it works great.

you can't go wrong with anything from century optics.

Re: unsqueezing LCD/viewfinder

Century had a slip-on lens/hood combo for the flip out LCD at the DV Expo, to view the unsqueezed image. I believe they said it was going to sell for about $295.00.
Might want to give them a call.
