Unreleased Music Video Leek

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

... dang.

I just emailed Colin to be his Hot Chocolate ***** on set.
I'm into learning!

The archival footage was so powerful. The playground kids were cool ... but the archival footage was so powerful.

It's great work.

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

yeah, stock shots ruled, made the lyrics much more poignant seeing what he was talking about.

The kids.... eehhhhh. Not so much, actually i think they kinda suck. The contrast of awesomly edited stock and very cheap videoy playground stuff didnt do it for me at all.

Then again, not sure how i would do better. I should shut up now ;D

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

Very nice video that certainly heald my attention. I don't really agree with the message of the video (US as a bad ass gansta) but that's a moot point.

Very nice editing, and coloring. The song also flows well too.

Keep it up!

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

not that i thought it was bad, but i didnt really think it was all that great. i found myself skipping through it. it was edited nicely though, but i agrea the playground shots seemed out of place.

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

the playground shots really got in the way for me here - they just ruined the depth of the message coming across.
I agree the stock was very strong - maybe super8 look would have suited better for the kids but it almost didn't really need to be in there - but I do understand why the contrast was needed to break the stock up - its just the kid's didn't work for me.

Ah well - another job another day ay' ;)

Nice editing & choice of stock !

PS - I wasn't feelin lyrics either but the tune had a powerful melody that suited the images for sure.

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

the editing was excellent. it hits hard with the music...and the stock footage was great. the music had a realy good hard hitting feel about it. i didnt like the message though either. and the kid stuff wasnt doing alot for me.

at the end of it...i had flash backs of history classes in jr high school :-/

well done on getting all that footage together! that alone looks like a huge effort!

nice color correct too!

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

I felt that the message was more like: Us americans are dickheads, that is, i was feeling that message near the part where the whole middle east footage started popping up...

Truth hurts...

I'm gonna watch it again, sixth time now... such an awesome presentation...

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

was the playground segements on shot on DVX?
is that all they work off of? the dvx?

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

Maybe if the kids video was changed to black and white it my fit a little better. jmo.

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

I'd be the last person to endorse the 'bad ass US' message, but this video rocks!

I think I know what you guys are saying about the kids' shots out of place, but I thought it made a very good contrast. I agree it could've been more muted, but it depends on what you're trying to say - if you are hinting at the 'happy happy joy joy' US consumerism as a counterpoint to the ugly realities of war, I think it's made a point.

Anyway - interesting point of view, if not shared by me.

Re: Unreleased Music Video Leek

they dont use dvx exclusivly, in fact i think iheard they each are pretty devoted to they're different equipment.

Matt uses the DVX (to greatest effect IMO)
Stuart uses the XL-1 (maybe xl2 now?)
Colin uses Sony VX2000

at least i think thats the correct line up. Anyway, whatever, even if i'd change the kids, this is just another "way better then anything ive made" video for colin to add to his substantial resume ;D
